BALLAST REPLACEMENT
Cannot relax because of the strange humming sound coming from your fluorescent light fixtures? Do not change the fixture change the ballast.
They say ballast hum because they do not know the words to the song. But actually, it is because of the coil inside the ballast.
Magnet ballast (known by red strip on label) uses a coil to control current, which causes the hum.
Electronic ballast (known by blue strip on label) uses no coil, no hum.
Are you looking to save money, but receive the same amount of light? Your current T12 fixture can be converted to T8

They say change the batteries in your detectors, when you change your clocks for daylight savings time.
But they never say how often to test your detectors.
Or when and how to clean them
They never say when to replace them (varies by manufacture).
They do not last forever.
Your fire detection devices and system, is what stands between you and serious injury, life loss, and property damage

LIGHTING FIXTURE UPGRADES
Can you only read in the kitchen?
Where the light is bright Is that painting not catching your guest eyes because it lacks accent lighting?
Is it hard to set the mood over the dinning room table? When the light is coming from another location?
Then its time to change fixtures, and/or add more fixtures to add more light
Sometimes just changing the types of bulbs/lamps you use can affect the room.
Ceiling fans with lighting kits can add excellent general light and decoration
